What are Police Alerts?

The email Police Alerts program was created by the Neighbourhood Watch Registry, in co-operation with local police services, to prevent and reduce crime.

It is a tool which local police services will use to communicate by email about crime occurrences, community events, or other information they want to share with their communities.

How does the program work?

When local Police Services subscribe to deliver Police Alerts, citizens can register to receive email messages about criminal activity or community events from any participating Police Service.

Police Alert messages will provide detailed information on criminal activity including:

  • the type of crime
  • where it took place
  • the date and time it took place
  • a brief description of the crime
  • (in some cases) a request for help with identifying suspicious persons or vehicles that may be associated with the crime

What if your local Community does not yet offer Police Alerts?

Your local community may not yet be registered to offer our Police Alerts or Chapter News services but you should still subscribe as we will advise you as new communities come on board.
