More About Campus CrimeWatch:
Campus CrimeWatch is organized with the guidance of Campus Police Services and in some cases with local Police. Campus CrimeWatch is an affiliate of the Neighbourhood Watch Registry Community Safety Alerts Program, established to help communities across Canada work together to promote safety and prevent crime.
Each Campus Crime Watch member registers for free at www.CampusCrimeWatch.org and receives the monthly Campus Safety e-newsletter includes important safety tips along with a detailed account of criminal activity on campus for the previous month. If a person knows what crimes are being committed, they can take effective precautions to prevent victimization.
Each semester Town Hall meetings are held for the entire membership to attend. Crime prevention information on pertinent topics is presented by either a member of the University Police or a guest speaker.
Each Campus CrimeWatch member is also linked to the Safety Alert email service. When a violent crime has been reported every member will be notified immediately.
