Our History

The concept of Neighbourhood Watch originated in the United States around 1970 and was introduced in Canada in the early 80's. The program was started to help reduce neighbourhood crimes such as break and enter, theft of auto, and property damage.

Currently there is no central body governing Neighbourhood Watch. However over the last four years, due to the hard work of many active community members that suport the NeighbourhoodWatchAlerts.com program --we have expanded this free service to 80 communities across the country.

Neighbourhood Watch has a long history of successfully working with Police Services to reduce crime across Canada. Now, through our innovative Email Alert Technology (EAS) system, crime prevention remains an important aspect of community safety programs.
